Andrew N. Mais, former Connecticut Insurance Commissioner and NAIC President, has rejoined Deloitte as a Senior Advisor on Insurance. Mais provides risk and regulatory strategy and advisory services to insurance industry stakeholders. Mais led a state department that has regulatory oversight over one of the largest insurance industries in the nation.

As NAIC President, Mais established and led the association’s 2024 initiative, “Mind the Gap,” a national strategy focused on regulation, innovation, and education to bridge protection gaps for consumers and ensure a stable insurance marketplace. During his presidency, the NAIC accomplishments included creating the first-ever National Climate Resilience Strategy for Insurance. Also in 2024, Mais established a Severe Weather Mitigation and Resiliency Advisory Council in Connecticut to help homeowners and businesses maintain more resilient properties.

Internationally, Mais held a leadership position at the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), serving as vice chair of the organization’s Executive Committee. He also served on the Insurance Capital Standards Task Force among others at the IAIS. Mais led the US negotiations to gain agreement in 2024 on the US Aggregation Method (AM) as a basis for comparability for the global Insurance Capital Standards, protecting US consumers and industry.
