CIRCA’s leadership is comprised of professionals from member firms, serving as Board Directors, Committee and Working Group Chairs and Vice Chairs. All these individuals volunteer their time and expertise to guide the association’s priorities and represent the interests of Cayman’s reinsurance industry.

Board members and committee representatives serve defined terms, with appointments reviewed and confirmed at the Annual General Meeting. Together, they oversee CIRCA’s work across regulatory, advocacy, education, communications, events, and member engagement, ensuring the perspectives of the membership are reflected in all areas of activity.

David Self

David C. Self is the current General Manager of CIRCA, after serving as Chair of the Board of Directors in 2024 and Vice Chair in 2023. He is a business executive specializing in insurance product innovation and distribution optimization with a broad range of products & channels in both the Life & Health and Property & Casualty sectors. Self served as Chief Executive Officer of CIBC Reinsurance Limited from 2012- 2024, managing all aspects of the Company’s operations, with a focus on business development and strategy. He is an analytical and strategic thinker, recognized for superior team leadership skills which have created motivated followership and significant financial results. He is also a member of the Canadian Association of Financial Institutions in Insurance (CAFII), and the Alternate and Creditors Distribution Committee of the Canadian Life & Health Insurance Association (CLHIA).
