Samir Shah is Co-Founder and CEO of Ledger Investing, an insurtech startup creating a technology-based marketplace that connects insurance risk with capital. Drawing on four decades of experience across insurance, banking, and pensions, Samir has helped Ledger pioneer the casualty insurance-linked securities (ILS) market and securitize over $2 billion in premium. Ledger started as a Y Combinator startup and is financed by a syndicate of tech VCs and strategic insurance investors.

Prior to Ledger, Samir held senior leadership roles at AIG, where he served as SVP and Head of Insurance Capital Markets and Chief Reinsurance Officer for the global property casualty business. In these roles, he was one of the largest issuers of ILS and among the largest buyers of reinsurance. Prior to that, he was the first Chief Risk Officer for AIG Global Property Casualty where he built the risk function.
Before joining AIG, Samir held leadership roles with Validus, Scottish Re, Towers Watson and Mercer Consulting.

Samir is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Northwestern University in Operations Research and Management Science.
