David C. Self is the current Chair of the Board of Directors of CIRCA, after serving as Vice Chair in 2023. He is a business executive specializing in insurance product innovation and distribution optimization with a broad range of products & channels in both the Life & Health and Property & Casualty sectors. Self has served as Chief Executive Officer of CIBC Reinsurance Limited since 2012, managing all aspects of the Company’s operations, with a focus on business development and strategy. He is an analytical and strategic thinker, recognized for superior team leadership skills which have created motivated followership and significant financial results. In addition to his leadership of CIRCA, Self is a member of the CIBC Reinsurance Board of Directors, the CIBC Life Insurance Company Board of Directors, the CIBC Insurance Risk Management Committee, the Canadian Association of Financial Institutions in Insurance (CAFII), and the Alternate and Creditors Distribution Committee of the Canadian Life & Health Insurance Association (CLHIA).
