Brandon Smith is Director of Finance at Accelerant Re (Cayman) Ltd, a Class B(iii) reinsurer licensed in 2021. Accelerant is a data-driven risk exchange connecting underwriters of specialty insurance risk with risk capital providers. Accelerant focusses on specialty P&C insurance, accelerating the exchange of risk through our team of experts, transparent data, differentiated technology and dynamic analytics. Accelerant Re (Cayman) Ltd was formed to aggregate the business underwritten by various Accelerant insurance companies located in the EU, UK, USA and Canada, and reinsure group risks through both traditional reinsurers and insurance linked securities investors.

Earlier in his career, Brandon served as Group Financial Controller for BF&M & Island Heritage Insurance Group, a P&C insurance company across 15 Caribbean jurisdictions, managing to successfully navigate the impact of CAT 5 events during his tenure. Having relocated to the Cayman Islands in 2011 from South Africa, Brandon graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Business Science degree, later becoming a qualified Chartered Accountant after working at KPMG.
