Ahwaz Chagani has over 18 years of experience in the (re)insurance industry, with a proven track record in leadership, pricing/underwriting, valuation, capital management, and risk management. Since September 2024, he has overseen Oceanview’s operations in the Cayman Islands. Prior to that, from January 2023 to September 2024, Ahwaz served as Chief Financial Officer of Oceanview’s Bermuda operations, and before that, he was Chief Actuary of the same division until March 2023.

Ahwaz joined Oceanview in October 2021 after a successful tenure at the Argus Group, where he held the position of Head of Group Actuarial and Risk, as well as Approved Actuary. At Argus, he led actuarial valuation, capital reporting, risk management, and IFRS 17 implementation. Prior to Argus, Ahwaz was the Head of Corporate Actuarial and Approved Actuary at AIA Reinsurance Ltd., where he managed key aspects of the actuarial and risk functions. His career also includes experience as a Consulting Actuary with Dion Strategic Consulting Group, as well as various actuarial roles at Manulife/John Hancock Financial.

Ahwaz is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst, and holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
